Baty might be a legit top 10 prospect after this year...

We may have the #1 overall and a #10ish in our system

I mean I'd love Soto, but 3b and C are conveniently our 2 biggest holes...

How about we wait until next season when we have Baty at 3rd, Alvarez at C, and trade for Soto using Mauricio, Ramirez, Allan, Parada, Jett
People need to keep Ramirez’s name out they mouths when talking about trades.

He will probably take Vientos spot when he gets traded/promoted.
But haven't they been playing Vientos at DH to prep him for a call up? If that's the case why no have Baty come up and play third while Vientos DHs? I understood when they wanted them both getting reps at third but now it's pointless.

I think @WC 's theory that they want him to feast on AA pitching is a good one - maybe they wanted him to keep showing the in-game power. He only had 3 home runs through the first couple months. The power is really a June on thing

I assume a promotion is imminent though

I would bet they’ve had him working on his swing to unlock these results. Maybe they want to keep him with this coaching staff for awhile.

It’s already been said but the fact that Baty and Alvarez have the potential to fill big needs on the roster is a big reason why it’s so difficult and conflicting to trade them. Escobar and McCann being on the active roster allows us to ease them in and a back up plan if they struggle.

Yes Ohtani and Soto are generational talents and if the prospects were 1B or OF prospects it would be easy to just ship them out. But them being cost controlled allows us to keep guys like Alonso, etc for the long haul. Plus we have to pay for pitching since we don’t have too many cost controlled options down the line.

Calm down Will Smith, I'm not trading him for anyone not named Soto/Ohtani. He's untouchable otherwise for me, this time next year we will be talking about how he's a top 10 prospect too

But I think we are all starting to lean against trading Alvarez and Baty for a guy we will have to pay 45 mil a year for soon, I'd rather keep them and use the 45m on pitching
