still say the angels are stupid and won't trade him. he's a free agent after next season. i'm not trading baty for 1 yr of ohtani. and they're gonna want a lot more.

i know we have steve so it's easy to just wanna spend, spend, and spend some more, but we need guys like Baty and Alvarez to step up as cheap young stars.

the one argument you could make is Ohtani could be hesitant to come out east regardless of the money, so if you get him a year ahead, he'll love it here and be willing to re-sign long term.

not sure that's gonna be a big issue though. He's obviously close with Eppler, so that should earn us some trust when he tells Ohtani how awesome being a Met is gonna be.
